”Hold On” släpptes som Jonas Brothers första singel från det självbetitlade albumet Jonas Brothers år 2007. iTunes musikaffär utnämnde singeln till #3 på deras ”Best of the Store” spellista den 7 Augusti, 2007.

I Augusti 2007, debuterade ”Hold On” på #92 på Billboard Hot 100, det blev bandets andra singel på listan under deras karriär (den första var ”Year 3000″, som kom in på plats #31). Singeln höll sig på plats #53 innan den åkte ur the Hot 100. Låten finns även med på Disney Channel Original Movie, Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board. År  2008 fick låten platinum.

Jonas Brothers gjorde en cover av Busteds låt ”Year 3000″ år 2006. För att göra låten lite mera barnvänlig, togs några av de rader i låten bort som hade sexuella anknytningar. För att attrahera de yngre lyssnarna, så säger deras version att Jonas Brothers sjunde album sålde mer än Kelly Clarkson istället för Michael Jackson.

Efter att låten släpptes i början av 2007, debuterade den på plats #40 på the Billboard Hot 100. ”Year 3000″ var gruppens första singel på listorna och deras första Top 40 hit.

Gruppens cover var den första singel som de släppte under Hollywood Records, och det var den enda låt som Hollywood fick rättigheterna till efter att gruppen blev sparkade från Columbia. Hollywood nyutsläppte låten på gruppens nästa album, Jonas Brothers och ”Year 3000″ var deras huvudsingel.

Jonas Brothers gjorde en cover av låten ”Poor Unfortunate Souls” till Little Mermaid(Lilla sjöjungfrun) två disk special edition av albumet, som släpptes den 3 Oktober, 2006 för att gå i stil med den två disk The Little Mermaid Platinum Edition DVD som släpptes samtidigt. Soundtracket innehöll en musikvideo med låten, där killarna sjunger vid en swimming pool.

Låten finns oxå med på Disney’s On the Record tillsammans med ”Part of Your World”, ”Under the Sea” och ”Kiss the Girl” som oxå är låtar från The Little Mermaid.

Även om låten för det mesta stämmer med texten till orginal låten, så har vissa rader blivit ändrade för att det inet ska referera till magi eller kön. T.ex. raden ”They weren’t kidding when they called me, well, a witch” blev ändrad till ”They weren’t kidding when they called me kinda strange”. En annan där det oxå har ändrats är ”Flotsam, Jetsam, now I´ve got her, boys”, har blivit ändrat till ”Nick and Kevin, now I´ve got her, boys”. Även, andra versen och slutet har tagits bort. Istället slutar låten med en repris av refrängen följt av första versen.

Låten finns med som nummer 6 på skivan It’s About Time, som släpptes under Columbia Records.

Låten är skriven om Jonas Brothers barndomsvän Mandy, som ett tag dejtade Joe.
